This expert meeting was a continuation of the conceptual discussion regarding certain aspects of TA which had been started at the EASST’98 conference in Lisbon. The three main aspects were: (1) Possibilities and limits of a critical and constructive evaluation of visions and general principles in order to influence technological development. (2) Possibilities and limits of TA which elicit the presuppositions, especially normative ones, basic to such visions and general principles, and to make them accessible to scientific and public discussion. (3) The question of the normative basis of such critical evaluations.
Participants: Dr. John Grin (University of Amsterdam), Dr. Peter Mambrey (GMD St. Augustin), Dr.-Ing. Rob Reuzel (University of Nijmwegen), Dr. Michael Decker (Europäische Akademie), Priv.-Doz. Dr. Armin Grunwald (Europäische Akademie).
