Science and the Media

The aim of the study group is to analyze both the relationship between science and the media and the possibilities of how to transfer scientific work into the public. In doing so, especially the target groups – science, politics and the public – are to be taken into consideration. Furthermore, it is planned to work out how target group-specific measures can be improved by considering any challenges a minor press agency may have.

By analysing the requirements of a modern world of media it is to be revised in how far the academy’s present instruments of publication (book series “Ethics of Science and Technology Assessment”), periodicals (e.g., Newsletter), homepage, recruiting and implementation of various events) address the requested target groups.

The study group is to state possible new targets and instruments for the communication work as well as to develop the exchange with external experts of other research institutions, scientists and representatives of the press and, thus, to draw conclusions for the work of the academy’s press agency.
