Relationships between sustainable development, technology and culture – Prof. Dr. Gerhard Banse Keynote-Speaker at 11. EPIEM-conference at University Politehnica Bucharest, Romania, on 28. October 2018

Prof. Dr. Gerhard Banse, EA researcher in the IND_4.0 project, was speaker at the 11th Conference European Professors of Industrial Engineering and Management (EPIEM) at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (UPB) on the 26st of October. The second EPIEM meeting in 2018 was dedicated to entrepreneurial, technological and educational approaches on innovation, sustainability and ethics. Professor Banse gave a keynote speech on the relationship between sustainable development, technology and culture.
During the past decade research in the field of Sustainable Development (SD) has taken more and more attention to the interdependences between SD and technology at the one hand and between SD and culture (in terms of requirements, linkages, connectivity, behavioural and educational content) at the other hand. Professor Banse spoke on the importance of culture for technology, the relationship between SD and technology and the question of the cultural connectivity of sustainable solutions (mostly technology based) nowadays.
EPIEM is a collaborative European network of professors in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM). The networks’ goal is to foster a collaboration between IEM professors across Europe to enhance the field of IEM.
